OSHA Resumes Normal Enforcement in Guam

Temporary inspection suspensions lifted as island territory recovers from typhoon.

The U.S. Department of Labor has announced that its Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is resuming regular enforcement activities in Guam after Typhoon Mawar. In the aftermath of the typhoon, OSHA temporarily suspended routine inspections and provided specialized assistance and outreach to ensure workplace compliance.

OSHA’s Regional Administrator James Wulff in San Francisco said, “We urge companies working in areas where the effects of Typhoon Mawar hit hardest to protect workers from hazardous conditions and follow safe work practices.”

The agency sent safety experts to these areas to identify and eliminate hazards, assisting employers and employees in avoiding injuries during the recovery phase. OSHA’s primary focus was on preventing issues like heat-related illnesses, falls, accidents involving objects, crushing hazards, electrical dangers, and the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from temporary generators.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Secretary Julie Su to seek the Lord’s direction as she heads the department.
  • For Assistant Secretary of Labor Doug Parker as he oversees OSHA.
  • For the people and leaders in Guam as they continue to recover from the typhoon.
